Tyler Kaufman

Tyler Kaufman

Tyler Kaufman is a science-artist, composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist specializing in interactive installations, sound design and sitar. His music fuses cinematic composition, electronica, songwriting, and world instruments into a distinctive electronic cinematic sound.

He is currently touring his new interactive science-art installation, Brainwave Control, which has been presented in London, Los Angeles, and Irvine, with upcoming presentations in Santa Barbara and Ecuador.

Kaufman began his career in recording studios at the age of 15, later graduating magna cum laude from Berklee College of Music with a double major and a double minor. He is the founder of Visceral Design and TakT, has toured internationally, and has performed at major festivals such as Burning Man multiple times.

In his role as a Science Artist, Kaufman has collaborated with laboratories and researchers across a wide spectrum of disciplines, including biology, neuroscience, chemistry, and nanotechnology. His residencies and projects include work with the Tis-Bio Lab at the University of Lille and the FEMTO-ST nanotechnology institute in France. In the US he also collaborates with Dr. Richard Boulanger from Berklee College of Music and Mateo Larrea at Stanford.

He has also performed a concert for the FENS Forum, Europe's largest neuroscience conference, playing to an audience of more than 10,000 people. His work has been exhibited internationally and has been honored with awards from places such as the Salon d'Automne (Paris, France), the UAE Emerging Art Scene Prize (Dubai), and the Arte Laguna Prize (Venice, Italy) among others.

Kaufman has presented his work and/or performed in the US, France, Germany, UK, Italy, India, South Korea, UAE, Poland, and even toured in Ukraine before the war. He is currently based in London, where he is producing new music, building his third recording studio, making new science-art installations, and developing a new live show.
